Implementation of a project in the Oil and Chemical Industry

Conceptual project – mechanical, electrical, and automation engineering.

New production line

Cegelec provides services related to the automation and robotization of production stations. We undertake tasks for business partners involving the design, prefabrication of control cabinets, delivery of control-automatic elements, electrical services, and supervision of commissioning. We comprehensively adapt machines to work in accordance with the machinery directive.

Conceptual project

As part of the team’s work, we created a conceptual project, based on which a machine for automatic production of plastic shapes was designed. The design and mechanical documentation were prepared using SolidWorks and AutoCad software. In collaboration with the INDUSTRIAL SERVICES department, we provided mechanical parts and carried out machine assembly work. After completing the commissioning work, the machine was transported to the client’s facility.

Electrical and automation projects

The automation team completed the electrical and automation project using E-Plan software and commissioned the prefabrication of the control cabinet. Energy meters were installed in the electrical cabinet for remote current consumption monitoring. Control and safety functions are based on the latest Siemens S7-1500 Fail-Safe controller. Each mechanism used in the machine can be manually controlled from the control panels or via SCADA, also using an application launched from a web browser.

Production management systems

Special attention should be paid to expanding SCADA functionality. In addition to standard monitoring and visualization of the production process, we have prepared order management functions. By using an industrial computer in the project, we have expanded SCADA capabilities with functions based on C# technology. To optimize production, the operator can load a list of shift production orders. Our software processes data from the production order, retrieves product data from the database, and ultimately prepares optimized recipes interpreted by the PLC controller.

Increasing efficiency and safety

An automated line prepared by our company was installed in place of the dismantled manual band saw station. By increasing safety and simplifying order fulfillment, we reduced occupational hazards at the workstation. Safety for individuals working with the machine, as well as those in its vicinity, has also been increased. Thanks to expanded order planning, production lead time has been increased more than fourfold. The use of servo drives, automatic feeding of semi-finished products, and precise angle setting for cutting have ensured repeatability and improved cutting quality.
